Our Spring Book Swap brought together book lovers of all ages for a day of literary exchange and community connection. The event collected over 150 books (updated from initial count) and facilitated meaningful exchanges that gave each book a new home while fostering conversations about reading and storytelling.
Hosted in a participant's house, the book swap invited participants to bring gently used books they no longer needed and exchange them for new-to-them titles across various genres—from children's picture books and young adult novels to nonfiction and classics. A team of 5 volunteers organized the books by category and helped attendees find hidden gems.
The event promoted sustainable reading habits by giving books a second life, reduced waste, and strengthened community bonds through shared literary interests. Many families noted that the swap helped them discover new authors without purchasing new books, making reading more accessible for everyone.
"My kids were so excited to find new books to read, and it felt good to pass along stories they've outgrown. The story-sharing corner was a lovely touch—we heard some wonderful book recommendations!" — Local Parent
